GMC has announced its lineup of AT4 models for the 2022 model year. The AT4 trim is the off-road-oriented trim level that is offered on the GMC Sierra 1500 and 2500HD/3500HD pickup trucks, as well as the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL SUVs.  All GMC AT4 models are available for immediate delivery or preorder at Lynch Buick GMC of West Bend.  All new vehicle purchases come with Lynch Rewards an $839 Value! The GMC Sierra AT4 1500 comes standard with a 5.3-liter V8 engine with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. It is available with either 2-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. The AT4 1500 can tow up to 9,100 pounds and has a payload capacity of 1,880 pounds. The GMC Sierra AT4 2500HD/3500HD come standard with a 6.6-liter V8 Duramax turbo-diesel engine with 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. Both 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive are available. The AT4 2500HD/3500HD can tow up to 14,500 pounds and has a payload capacity of 3,233 pounds. The GMC Yukon AT4 comes standard with a 5.3-liter V8 engine with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. It is available with either 2-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. The AT4 Yukon can tow up to 8,500 pounds and has a payload capacity of 1,790 pounds. The GMC Yukon XL AT4 comes standard with a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It is available with either 2-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. The AT4 Yukon XL can tow up to 8,100 pounds and has a payload capacity of 2,120 pounds. Buying a car isn’t cheap. But looking to buy in the used car market can make the process much more financially feasible. Some people are hesitant to jump into this market, though, wondering if they will be able to purchase a safe and reliable vehicle used. Used cars might have been poorly maintained, have unresolved mechanical issues, or even just be suffering from daily wear-and-tear. While it’s certainly possible to buy a used vehicle without a pre-purchase inspection (PPI), an inspection will save you time and money later on and will give you the peace of mind to know that your vehicle is ready to hit the road. Where can I get an inspection? If you’re purchasing the car from a dealership, they will likely let you bring a mechanic to the site to perform a PPI. When purchasing from an individual, you will probably have to bring the car to the technician. Any certified mechanic or automotive technician is capable of performing a PPI. Use someone that you trust and have a relationship with. If this is your first time using a mechanic in the area, do the research beforehand to find someone trustworthy. Most pre-purchase inspections run $100-$200 and can take several hours, so it’s vital that the inspector you choose will provide you with all the necessary information. A local inspector will be able to provide you with specific details about your area. If you live in an area that gets snow, you will need to know important things to look for in outdoor vehicles. A local mechanic can inspect the vehicle for damage specific to the local road conditions. Due to the differences in makes and models, it is also a good idea to choose a mechanic that is familiar with the specific car you are buying. An SUV vehicle inspection differs from a sedan inspection. This will prevent miscommunication and missed problems. What does an inspection include? A pre-purchase inspection from a certified mechanic will ensure that the car is mechanically sound and ready to drive. The mechanic will perform a detailed inspection using a vehicle checklist to look for issues that the average buyer would miss. The mechanic will check the engine, the frame, and other internal components. Likely, the inspection will be largely visual. Your inspector will look for rusting and misplacement of parts. However, you can work with your inspector and may ask them to put the car up on a lift to do a more thorough inspection. Even cosmetic damage can be very costly to repair, and a trusted automotive technician can inform you of the costs and potential risks of leaving damage unrepaired. Depending on your technician, they may also take the car for a test drive to ensure that every system is functioning properly. A test drive will allow the mechanic to check the power steering, test the brakes, and listen for sounds that could help diagnose problems with the vehicle. What do I do with the report? If the inspector finds issues with the used car you’re looking to purchase, don’t panic! A used car is never going to be in flawless condition. Minor cosmetic issues are usually fine when purchasing the vehicle. For larger repairs, the car can still be a good investment, especially when weighing the cost of a new car against the cost of a used car with repairs factored in. Make sure to get quotes from local mechanics so that you can budget the cost of repairs into the purchase price. Make sure to thoroughly go over the report your mechanic provides and ask for clarification on any points you do not understand before you purchase the car. If you are purchasing the car from a dealer, all major damage should have been disclosed as well. This could be a red flag if major issues come up in the report, so don’t be afraid to challenge the dealer on large mechanical issues. Still, don’t let a negative report scare you off from the vehicle, especially if you really love it. You can use the report to negotiate a better price. You've seen the ads, "that's a Buick?" the attractive spokespeople utter overzealously upon eyeing the luxury SUV parked in front of them.  Buick has had quite the transformation in recent years to become Not your Grandpa's Buick. Most notably with the introduction of the all-new Buick Encore GX.  You read that right, the Encore GX is a completely new and different vehicle from the Encore.  GX is not a trim level, but rather signifies a redesigned luxury vehicle with attractive styling to sit in the lineup between the smaller Encore and the larger Envision. Styling & Size Looking at these two vehicles, it becomes immediately obvious that these are not the same compact utility vehicle.  The Encore GX sports a larger grill (with optional sporty red accents on select trim levels), sharper lines, and is an overall larger vehicle than the Encore.  At 171.4 inches long, the newer Encore GX is 3 inches longer than the older Encore.  The GX also adds 1.3 inches to the vehicle's width, providing a nice luxurious stance.  You'll some extra front and rear legroom thanks to these sizing changes.  Moving around back, the Encore GX provides ample trunk storage.  At 23.5 cubic feet, it provides 20% more trunk space than the Encore. Engine & Transmission This is where the platform differences truly start to become apparent.  The Encore is driven by a 138hp turbocharged 1.4L four-cylinder engine paired to a six-speed automatic transmission with available all wheel drive.  You'll get that same engine across all of the Encore's trim levels.  Meanwhile, the Encore GX features two engine options, both turbocharged three -cylinder engines.  The base 1.2L engine produces 137hp and is only paired to front wheel drive models.  The more powerful 1.3L engine produces 155 horses and can be paired with both FWD and AWD models.  The GX also makes use of a CVT - continuously variable transmission - on its front wheel drive models, while a 9-speed automatic comes with all the AWD models. Fuel Economy As one might expect, the turbocharged 3-cylinder engine driving the GX is more apt at sipping fuel than its 4-cylinder counterpart found in the standard Encore.  The Encore GX will pull 30/32/31 city/highway/combined mpg according to the EPA, while the Encore comes in at 25/30/27 respectively.  When speaking to All Wheel Drive models, the Encore's economy does not change according to the EPA.  On the other hand, Encore GX's numbers come more inline with the standard Encore's numbers when all four wheels are being driven.  AWD Encore GX owners can expect fuel economy of 26/29/28 according to the EPA. Pricing & Features The Encore starts at $24,600, while the Encore GX comes in at a starting price of $24,200.  Both vehicles come standard with convenience features such as proximity based lock/unlock, push-button start, Apple Carplay/Android Auto paired to an 8" touch screen display, 18" wheels/tires, and a 4.2" gauge cluster display behind the wheel. The Encore GX comes standard with added safety features such as forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and lane departure warning.  These are optional features on the Encore. Double-cab model boasts a bold and confident attitude with elevated capability The launch of the next generation Sierra lineup continues with the introduction of the new 2019 GMC Sierra Elevation. Adding to other recently revealed bold, powerful models of the Sierra, the Elevation makes a statement in design, capability and advanced connectivity. The Sierra Elevation, along with Denali, AT4 and SLT, is designed to meet the needs and preferences of discerning GMC customers. The next generation Sierras are built upon a prominent foundation of strong bodywork that incorporates chiseled fenders and a tall, powerful hood capped with a bigger and bolder grille than any Sierra prior. Elevation sets itself apart with distinct monochromatic door handles, bumpers and grille surround. The commanding design is amplified by black exterior accents, including the grille insert, tow hooks, side window trim and standard 20-inch aluminum wheels. Like other modern GMC designs, advanced lighting technology plays a key role in shaping the 2019 Sierra Elevation. New high-intensity LED headlamps that incorporate C-shaped “light blade” signature lighting elements, LED fog lamps and C-shaped LED elements within the taillights are all standard. “The 2019 Sierra Elevation conveys a youthful, athletic presence that demonstrates GMC’s tailored approach,” said Rich Latek, GMC marketing director. “With inherent truck capabilities and functionality, Elevation is able to take you off the beaten path along with your gear while standing out from the pack.” The Sierra Elevation is based off the double cab model and is offered with two- or four-wheel-drive configurations. The next generation double cab has nearly 3 inches of additional rear-seat legroom compared to the current model and best-in-class double cab front head- and legroom (max.). Elevated Capability The Sierra Elevation leverages innovative technology and smart engineering to enhance capability and elevate driver confidence. With the Traction Select System and the twist of a dial, the driver can choose from preset modes designed for distinct purposes or conditions. Selecting one of these modes adjusts Sierra’s transmission shift points, throttle mapping and other systems to optimize performance for the situation at hand. Standard on the 2019 Sierra Elevation is an all-new 2.7-liter turbocharged engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that delivers 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque. The next generation 5.3-liter V-8 is also available on the Sierra Elevation, in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This improved version of the 5.3-liter V-8 utilizes a new Dynamic Fuel Management system that enables the engine to operate on one to eight cylinders, depending on demand, to optimize power and efficiency. Early in 2019, the Sierra Elevation will also be offered with a new 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-six-cylinder engine, along with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Advanced Connectivity An 8-inch diagonal GMC Infotainment System that incorporates Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility* is standard on the Sierra Elevation, along with a six-speaker audio system.
